The da Vinci is a beautiful grade 2 listed building conveniently located in the centre of Eastbourne's cultural district. The hotel was originally a coaching hotel and had been closed for a number of years before being purchased by the present owner. The opening of the hotel was not without its major traumas and financial bombshells.
Regardless , the hotel opened its doors to the first paying customers in May 2008 with only four of the 21 rooms renovated and refurbished. Income from the first four rooms paid for the next four, then the top floor, then the single rooms and then the back rooms.
Three years later, the hotel boasts 21 renovated and refurbished rooms. …and still more plans for the future including a new reception area, and a new bar /bistro. We also are looking into offering evening meals and getting the garden areas open to the public.
Some of these projects are a long way from completion but we think we have come a long way in three years so who knows what the next three will bring? You can share in the progress of our project by reading of our exploits on the da Vinci blog which tells you all about our journey from the very start.
